Liposuction
Liposuction is the removal of excess fat (fat reduction for obesity) through fine canulas connected to a suction machine. The process involves use of specially designed canulas. It’s by far the most popular form of cosmetic surgery.
Indications:
Liposuction is done to remove localized areas of fat from any part of the body, usually from Thighs, Abdomen, Buttocks, Breast, Back, Arms, Chin, Neck etc. Liposuction contours the body and the skin shrinks in. Lyposuction is used to sculpt areas and can also suction out large amounts of fat to treat obesity (Liposculpting).
Procedure
Small incisions (1/2 cm.– 1 cm.) are made on the skin through which the fat is sucked out through different sized cannulae, thus causing fat reduction. Liposuction may be done under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. The area is distended with saline before the suction and it is called tumescence or superwet technique.
Stay
Usually liposuction is an outpatient procedure, and stay in the hospital is not needed.
